Hub Compatibility with Bearing Dimensions for Spindle
Question:
I am considering replacing my mobile home hubs that are currently on a pig cooker with a set of spindles that I have off of another trailer. It would be much easier for me to change out the spindles instead of the complete axle due to the way the axle is installed. I need a set of hubs and bearings for a spindle that use the following parts. The outer bearing is a LM11949 and the inner one is a LM67048. The seal I.D. is 1.687. Your part number DX22XR should work. My question is, are there differences in the dimensions in the spacing between the inner and outer bearings on hubs? The distance between the inner and outer bearing surface on my spindles is 1.375. I have no idea of what these original hub/spindles came off of. My second question is: If the above listed part number is correct, is there a lower cost option for this spindle while still using a 5 on 4 1/2inch bolt pattern. This cooker is seldom used and I would prefer to keep repair costs as low as possible. My reasoning for using the above listed bolt pattern is that it is the same as my other trailers. This minimizes having different sizes of tires and rims. Thanks in advance for your help.

The Trailer Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Cast # DX22XR is the only hub we have with all of the elements you mentioned. There can be different dimensions between bearings based on the spindle. For instance we have 3 inch long spindles up to 6-1/2 inch spindles.
Because you don't know what the parts came off of, I recommend you consider the Dexter Trailer Idler Axle w/ Hubs - EZ-Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 72" Long - 2,200 lbs # 20545I-EZ-72-10. You will need to consider the spring seat locations at 58 inches and the hub to hub of 72 inches. This will have the grease zerk in the spindle for easy maintenance.
