What Size Opening Does the XL Base Plate Kit # 1418-1 Have for a 1999 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
What size openings do the base plates have? I ask this because I would like to be able to attach my hitch mount winch to the front of my Cherokee and want to know if they have a 2 inch opening to attach it to. I know that you cant put both a receiver hitch and a base plate towing system on the front. Thanks

I went out and measured the shank of the drawbars on the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 1418-1 for your 1999 Jeep Cherokee and found them to be 1-1/2" square.
Sometimes aftermarket front bumpers for Jeeps will have a winch mount built into it and then the D-Rings can be used with adapters like part # RM-035 (3/4") or # RM-035-1 (1"). If you can find a bumper that fits your Cherokee which is rated for flat towing and utilizes the D-Rings just let me know how thick the D-Ring mounts are an I can let you know which adapters to use and which tow bar would work well with them.
For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some recommendations for you.
