Recommend Brake Controller For 2007 Motorhome Powered By 2006 Chevrolet Express w/tow package
Question:
I HAVE A 2007 MOTORHOME POWERED BY 2006 CHEV. EXPRESS 6.0 VORTEC WITH TOW PACKAGE. I WANT TO PUT ON A BRAKE CONTROLER. IM LOOKING AT ECHELON #78077 OR REESE POD 74377 ALSO HOPKINS. WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND.

I did some research on the Echelon Brake Controller and the Reese POD. I found that the Echelon is a proportional brake controller and the Reese POD is not. I would recommend going with a proportional brake controller. A proportional brake controller will send power to the trailer brakes in proportion to the amount of brake power or the rate at which the tow vehicle is slowing down. This creates very smooth and predictable braking.
We do not carry either the Echelon or Reese POD controller. A proportional brake controller that we carry and that I would recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885. The P2 is one of most popular controllers as it is very user friendly, and easy to setup.
If your Express van has a round cap with plug in the frame rail, you will need Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way, part # 30955.
I have linked instructions for the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885, and an FAQ on brake controller installation.
