Blue Ox Tow Bars Compatible with Currie Base Plate Kit on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Question:

I have just bought a 2008 wrangler and would like to use the currie base plate. I currently have a Blue Ox Aventa II BX7335 on my motorhome. Are these compatible as is or will some adapter be needed? If adapter is required, what is it? Thanks

From what I could find it looks like the correct Currie base plate kit for your 2008 Jeep Wrangler is part 9033JK. If this is what you will be getting then it is compatible with the Blue Ox Avail # BX7420, Alpha # BX7380, or Acclaim # BX4330 without using an adapter.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. Since all of the Blue Ox tow bars come with safety cables you will just need wiring, a braking system, and a high-low adapter.

If you don't already have the rest of the equipment, I recommend using the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 for wiring and the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR for a braking system. Your battery will need to be disconnected so I also recommend installing the battery disconnect # RM-766 which comes with wiring to add a charge line so your battery doesn't die. You may also need the 12V Outlet Kit # RM-9332 to power the Patriot.

Most flat towing setups require a high-low adapter for the tow bar to remain level while towing. I have linked our selection of adapters for you to check out as well as an article that will help you determine which is the best one for your application.

Be sure to check your owner's manual for any specific instructions for flat towing your Jeep Wrangler.
