Question:
We purchased an older pick up camper and need tie downs. We dont want to spend a lot. What do you recommend? Will the clamp on ones work?

The Brophy Stake Pocket Mounted Camper Tie Downs part # TDSF that you referenced are a great option for your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado so long as it is not a dually. These tie downs install in the stake pocket openings and are made in the U.S.A. They also come with a one year warranty. The reason I like these tie downs is because they are super easy to install. There is no drilling required and they come with a black powder coated finish so you know they will withstand rust.
In order to secure the truck bed camper to the above tie downs you will need a set of turnbuckles for which I recommend using the Brophy Basic Turnbuckles part # TDHP because they are both cost effective and easy to use. I have attached a review video of the tie downs and turnbuckles for you as well.
