What 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit Fits a 2005 Ford F-250 King Ranch 4 Door Diesel

Question:

I have a 2005, F-250, King Ranch, 2wd, 6.0l Diesel, 4 door with a short bed. I want to install this part number RP50082-58 and then use the Goose as we are purchasing a small horse trailer with the goose neck hitch. Please let me know if this is the correct part number for my vehicle. Thank you

As long as your 2005 Ford F-250 has at least a 6-1/2 foot short bed there are options. But if you have a Super Crew with a bed less than 6 feet long, there can be some clearance issues.

Given the shape of a most gooseneck trailers, the clearance problem may not be as bad between the cab of the truck and the front of the trailer as it would be with a 5th wheel. You would probably need to remove the tail gate when you tow the gooseneck on a bed shorter than 6 feet.

The Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP50082-58, is a fit for the short bed F-250. I have included some links to installation instructions and a video install for you to view.

For a gooseneck hitch that fits in 5th wheel rails, I recommend the Curt 25K Gooseneck Plate, # 16055. This plate will provide an offset for a short bed truck if you install it with the ball end closer to the rear of the truck.
