Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2008 Chevy Silverado

Question:

I have a 2008 chevy silverado 1500 ltz with towing package. It does already have a small external trans cooler out front. If I purchase a aftermarket trans cooler, would I also use the factory one? If so, how would I need to hook both of them up? Which cooler would you recommend? I tow a 6500 lb camper a lot and I also tow a 5000 lb boat in the south with 95 degree temps and lots of humidity. Thanks.

The best way to use a supplemental transmission cooler is to have the fluid go from the factory cooler then to the supplemental cooler as this will maximize cooling power. For a full size truck like yours I'd recommend a larger cooler like the Derale part # D13504 which measures 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep. You'll also want the fitting adapter part # D13035 which will make installing the cooler much easier.
