Tips for Getting Reese Elite Series Pop-In Ball Kit for Ford Rail Kit to Fit Truck

What are a few tricks i can use to make my goose neck ball fit. It will not go into the hole any farther, i’ve tired turning it tapping on it and it won’t lock in.

Are the balls on the side of the ball that comes with the part # RP30137 fully retracted when you have the release mechanism on top of the ball pulled out? Is there anything in the ball hole that's obstructing the ball from fitting?
