The number of plies a tire has no longer has a direct correlation to the weight capacity of a tire as manufacturers have begun to use stronger material which means fewer plies and a higher weight capacity. The figure that is now used instead of plies is load range. The load range of all tires will need to exceed the gross trailer weight (GTW) of the trailer.

I recommend the Karrier Radial Trailer Tire part # AM10251 if you have ST225/75-15 tires or part # AM10244 if you have ST205/75-15 tires. These tires both have a radial ply which means they will be better for long highway trips. They also both have a load range C rating which is you have ST225/75-15 tires would be 2,150 lbs or 1,820 lbs if you have ST205/75-15 tires. They will both need to be filled to 50 psi to achieve the max weight rating.

I have attached a review video of each option for you.
