Replacement Venture Landing Gear Follow Leg for 2006 Hitchhiker 5th Wheel Trailer
Question:
I need to replace the landing gear follow leg on my 2006 Hitchhiker II fifth wheel. The landing gear appears to be a series 900 Venture unit with the 29 1/2 inch legs. The outside dimensions are 2 1/2inch x 2 1/2inch and the drop leg is 21. The problem is: The pinch point brackets on my leg are 15 1/4 inches inside and 17 3/8 inches on the outside and all of the legs Item 179014 you sell seem to measure 15 1/2inch and 17 1/2inch for the pinch brackets. Also, the outside of the top pinch bracket measures 6 3/4 inches from the top of the leg. I cant find that measurement on any of the legs you sell. I need an immediate fix as I currently cant remove the trailer from the truck and I need the truck for work. Can you help?

The Replacement 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear Follow Leg # LC179014 referenced in your question is the closest option we have to the measurements you provided in your question. As you mentioned, this particular leg features a distance of 15-1/2 inches between the bracket stops inside to inside and a 17-1/2 inch distance between the stops outside to outside. The leg itself (outer tube) measures 29-1/2 inches and has a width of 2-1/2 inches x 2-1/2 inches. From the top bracket to the top of the leg there is indeed a distance of right at 6-3/4 inches.
Since the bracket measurements are so close to what you listed I recommend simply verifying the measurements on your existing leg to see if this will work as a replacement. I have attached a short video demonstration that you can also check out.
