Replacement for Atwood Surge Brake Actuator 82541

Question:

You suggest replacing Atwood 82541 with Titan T63FR. Coupler is for a 1988 Correct Craft trailer for a Ski Nautique 2001 2,350 lbs. I never disengaged anything on the old trailer to back up. Would I need to use the manual lockout on the Titan coupler when backing up? Are bolt mounting holes the same on Titan as my old Atwood?

Expert Reply:

It sounds like you have free backing braking assemblies on your trailer so a lockout at the trailer coupler is not needed. In order to replace the Atwood Surge Brake Actuator 82541, I recommend using the Titan Leverlock Brake Actuator part # T43397007K although the Brake Actuator with Manual Lockout part # T63FR would work as well. The Leverlock is more cost effective and has an easier to use latching mechanism in my opinion.

The mounting bolt holes on the Leverlock are 3" apart but if they do not match what is on your trailer now you can always drill new ones.
