Recommended Hitch and Coupler Lock Set for Wide Hitch Receiver on Toyota Tacoma

Question:

The hitch pin span is listed at 2-3/4”. I assume the 2848DAT will not work with my 2018 Toyota Tacoma with the factory 2x2” hitch that measures 3.040 across the outside? Do you have a similar set with matched keys and a longer hitch pin? Thanks

The hitch lock included with the Master Lock Hitch Receiver and Coupler Latch Lock Set # 2848DAT that you referenced does feature a 2-3/4 inch inside pin length/span. This is likely a bit small to work well with the receiver on your Tacoma that has an outside width of just over 3 inches.

I do have a better solution for you, however there isn't a coupler and hitch lock set available that includes a hitch pin with a longer usable span. I recommend taking a look at etrailer.com Hitch Receiver Lock - Extra Long # e98881. This hitch lock features a 3-5/8 inch inside width and a double chrome plate for maximum rust resistance. You can then add the Trailer Coupler Lock # e98888 for your coupler. This features a 3-3/8 inch span and a 1/4 inch diameter.

When ordering the units you will just want to select "Keyed Alike" on the drop-down menu on each of their corresponding product pages. If you order both at the same time they will come keyed alike so you can operate both units with the same key.
