Availability of High Capacity Adjustable Ball Mount with Sway Control Tab

Question:

Im looking for an adjustable channel hitch for a 2inch receiver with a 2 5/16inch ball and a sway tab. Ive seen 1 or 2 in your inventory, but the weight capacity is too low. Is there one out there with a 12-14,000 lb capacity? I pull a 12,000 lb travel trailer with a 1,300 lb tongue weight. I prefer to use the sway control bar, but I would also like an adjustable hitch as the truck is often carrying different weights on the flatbed when the trailer is being pulled. Ive included a pic of my current setup. As you can see, I have to pull out the impact to adjust the height of the ball.

We do have the Draw-Tite Adjustable Ball Mount with Sway-Control Tab # 7390, but it features a 6,000 pound towing weight capacity. This is the highest rated ball mount with a built-in sway-control tab we have available.

Your best option is to go with a higher-rated adjustable ball mount like the Pro Series # 63071 and then weld on a sway control tab # 3442. With that being said, since your trailer is well over 6,000 pounds we highly recommend that two friction-style bars be used (one on each side) so you will want to weld 2 of the tabs onto the ball mount.

With such a heavy trailer, you would likely benefit much more from a complete weight distribution system with built-in sway control. The Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66130 should work perfectly for your setup, as it features a tongue weight capacity of 800 to 1,500 pounds. This will do a great job of evenly distributing weight over the axles of your truck and trailer along with fighting and preventing sway with its dual-cam sway control.

You will just need to add an adjustable shank like # RP54970 and 2-5/16 inch hitch ball # C40030.

I have attached a sample video demonstration on this system so you can see exactly how it works.
