Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2015 Jayco Jay Feather Ultra Lite SLX Travel Trailer
Question:
Do we need torsion bars to tow a 15 foot ultra lite trailer?

We recommend using a weight distribution system when the trailer weighs 50 percent or more of the vehicle weight or if the rear of the vehicle is sagging. I have included a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution for you to view for more info.
If you determine that weight distribution is needed you will need to go by the loaded tongue weight of the trailer. You can calculate the loaded tongue weight by combining the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow plus the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
Once you know your tongue weight you will want to check out the link I attached that has all of the weight distribution systems we carry. You will be able to select your tongue weight from the filters to see what would be rated for your setup. Or you can let me know what you have and I'll pick out a solution.
I looked up the weight of a 2015 Jayco Jay Feather Ultra Lite SLX Travel Trailer and it appears to be about 5,000 lbs loaded. So based on that the Reese Strait-Line kit part # RP66083 would be a great option. It has a tongue weight range of 400 to 800 lbs and features the best sway control around that works to fight sway before it starts.
For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
