B and W Hitch Recommendation for 2014 Ford F-250 that Can be Used with Sidewinder

Question:

What is the proper location of a BandW companion fifth wheel hitch in relation to the axle? I have a sidewinder kingpin on the fifth wheel so the pivot point for our camper will be closer to the rear of the truck. But I want the proper weight position for the truck. 2014 F250 super duty 4x4 with 6 1/2 foot bed

The bad news is that you can't use a Sidewinder pin box with a trailer that a Companion hitch installed in the bed if it's the style designed for Turnoverball gooseneck hitches. Reason being that the Sidewinder needs a hitch that attaches in 4 locations due to the twisting torque they put on the hitch. The Companion only attaches with a center post and the leverage of the Sidewinder is too much for that style.

You can use the Fixed B and W Patriot Hitch though part # BWRVK3255 which is similar to the Companion but uses standard rails for attachment like the kit part # BWRVK2401 which is a fit for your 2014 Ford F-250.

I attached an install video for this kit on a similar 2015 Ford F-250 for you to check out as well. You'll also want the B and W Sidewinder wedge part # SWW-06 as well and you'd be set.
