Recommended Trailer Tire for an Old Motorcycle Trailer with 5.70-8 Tires

Question:

I have this old motorcycle trailer and I need to know if it would be safe to use it for my new Indian chief classic? My motorcycle weighs 800 lb. I took a picture of a tag that its on my axle and will send it. My wheels are only a 4 lug will the tires are 5.70-8. Another question would be if I get a highspeed tire, is it safe to go over 55 miles an hour. What is the top speed for such a small tire?

The axle capacity will help to determine the gross vehicle weight rating of the trailer but it is not a direct correlation. The only way to obtain the exact gross vehicle weight rating would be to call the trailer manufacturer with your VIN which if they are out of business would be difficult. Therefore, as long as the axle capacity exceeds the weight of your bike/trailer and the wheels/tires exceed the weight of the bike/trailer then you should be good in regards to weight. This is all assuming the trailer is in good shape and all of the welds are intact and there is no structural rust damage.

The tires as you mentioned will be another crucial aspect for the safety of both the trailer and bike. In order to replace the 5.70-8 tires, I recommend the Kenda K353 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM10013 or the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel part # AM30153. The above tires both have a load range d rating (1,075 lbs per tire) and 65 mph speed rating. This will be the highest weight and speed rating we have for this size tire.

I have attached review videos for you.
