Compatibility of Yakima FullSwing Bike Rack with Draw-Tite Hitch on 2017 Toyota Highlander

Question:

I already own a Yakima FullSwing bike rack, and Yakima has advised there needs to be certain amount of clearance between the hitch pin and the rear of the bumper. I think I was told 2-3inch would be good but cannot find my exact notes from Yakima. I like this hitch b/c it allows full spare tire usage but want to know if it works with Yakima Bike rack. Thank you.

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2"
Item # e98844 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2017 Toyota Highlander and will indeed fit with the full-size spare tire stowed under the vehicle.

When we installed this hitch on your Highlander, we noted that the hitch pin hole is actually even with the outer edge of the rear bumper. This means that you will not have any clearance issues with the Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 installed between it and the rear bumper. It will work perfectly with this hitch on your vehicle. This particular bike rack actually has a relatively large distance of 9 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack. This means that the hitch pin hole on a trailer hitch receiver would need to be recessed 9 inches or more behind the rear bumper for there to be an issue. You will have plenty of clearance with this setup.

I have attached the installation video on your Highlander that you can use for reference, along with the written instructions.
