How to Find Correct Replacement Hub for 7,000 lb Axle

Question:

I need a new hub and brakes. What size studs /trailer hub do I need for a Dexter 7K axle part number #1694627, D70 290803 with 8 on 6 1/2? Trailer is a 2016 Keystone Raptor 355TS toy hauler. Thanks

In order to find the correct replacement hubs for your 2016 Keystone Raptor, since you already know the weight rating of your axle, you need to know what bearings your current hub has. You will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you get back to me with that information I'd be happy to try and find the correct hub for you.

If you are unable to find them, you need to use a digital caliper and measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings and grease seal ride. You can use the photo I've attached to see exactly where you need to measure.

As for brakes, so long as your drum is 12" x 2" and you have a 5-bolt brake mounting flange I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-7-SA which is rated for 7,000 lb axles and are self-adjusting; these brakes do require Mounting Hardware # BRKH12.
