Troubleshooting Trailer Tail Light Harness that Keeps Failing on a 2015 Kia Sorento
Question:
had a hitch and light wiring installed at a local U-Haul dealer. My vehicle is a 2015 Kia Sorento. The converter has failed three times. It has been replaced twice under warranty. When it fails the trailer tail lights stays on at all times and none of the turn signals or brake lights work. My trailer lights are brad new and work fine on other vehicles. The last time the unit failed, it was never connected to a trailer I know that it failed because the LED indicators on the connector were all on.

Since I don't know what wiring harness you had installed on your 2015 Kia Sorento I am not quite sure as to what could be the issue other than a faulty installation.
We do have 3 different wiring harnesses depending on your vehicle style. If you have the V6 model with a factory tow package then you would need part # C56332. If you have the I4 model without the factory towing package we have the part # 118583.
I would be sure that whatever harness they are installing is correct for your vehicle. If it is then you may want to try installing it on your own or have another shop install it. The harness for the V6 draws power from the vehicle itself so maybe some OEM wiring is messed up which would be something for Kia to deal with. Otherwise the ones for the I4 model draw power directly from the battery and the included fuse should be keeping the ModuLite safe.
Our other options from curt and Hopkins function the same ways.
