How to Find the Speed Rating for a Trailer Tire

I have an Ironton trailer that uses a 125/88-12 tire. How do I find my maximum speed for this tire?

Expert Reply:
A lot of trailer tires do not have a speed rating code on them. If you do not see a letter code somewhere that indicates a speed rating then the tire is rated for a maximum of 65 miles per hour. If it does have a speed rating letter code it would be on the sidewall. It could be on both sidewalls or just one depending on how the tire mold for that tire was made.
