Can Weight Distribution System Be Used Without Spring Bars
Question:
I have a 2014 ram with 6inch lift so I need a distribution shank. I see those on your site. My distribution system is a curt 17500. My question is do you sell a 2inch ball mount that will also fit the shank? In other words when I take off the 17500 system, is there a bolt on 2inch ball system I can put on for other lighter trailers that is a direct bolt on for the shank from curt? I hate to buy 2 systems. Thanks so much.

The 2-inch shank parts of weight distribution systems like the Curt TruTrack # C17500 are standardized so you can replace any shank with another from any brand to give you the amount of drop you need to keep the hitched trailer level. All 2-inch shanks appear on the page I linked for you. Among these is the Curt shank # C17125 which offers drop up to 15-3/4-inches with trunnion bars like those in the TruTrack # C17500.
When you tow a lighter trailer that does not need the weight distribution hitch all you need to do is remove the two spring bars and you can use the rest of the setup for standard towing.
