Replacement Trailer Coupler for a 1982 Airstream Excella
Question:
Would this repair kit work on my trailer that takes 2 5/16 ball? A piece fell out of my coupler unit which is likely the original. If not, do you have anything that would work?

The trailer coupler latch repair kits are specific to the trailer coupler and not universal even if the hitch ball size is the same. Therefore, if you have the 12660-97SP, DM13203-52, DM13203-95, DM13205-52, DM13205-95, DM14040-52, DM14040-81, DM14040-95, DM14040-97, DM14793-81, DM14976-52, DM15633-52, DM15633-81, DM15633-97, DM612466-52, DM612466-81, DM612466-95, DM612466-97, DM6125-52, DM6125-81, DM6125-95, or DM6125-97 trailer coupler then yes the Demco Composite eZ-Latch Repair Kit part # DM6008 will work for you.
If you do not have one of the above trailer couplers then please let me know the make and model of the trailer coupler you have. The trailer coupler make and model should be stamped onto the base. If you cannot find the make and model and even if you can, due to the age of the trailer it may be best to just replace the coupler all together and for that I recommend the A-Frame Trailer Coupler part # CA-5400-B which is both cost effective and easy to use.
I have attached a review video for you.
