Recommended Brake Controller for 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL450
Question:
is the tekonsha brake controller tk90160 compabtible with 2007 Mercedes GL 450? Also, is a vehicle specific wiring adapter available/advisable? Alternatively, is there a better brake controller recommended for use in this vehicle? Note, the Mercedes dealer has warned against a range of towing products It will be towing less than 3000 pounds loaded trailer.

The Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 is compatible with your 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL450, however it is not the best brake controller and there is not a custom wiring harness available for your vehicle.
If you want a better brake controller, the Prodigy P3 # 90195 is a better option. It has preset boost options as well as an LCD screen to make diagnostics and function easy to understand. For your wiring, the Universal Brake Controller Install Kit # ETBC7 is what I recommend. You will need a 4-way like # 119250KIT installed if you don't have the factory tow package.
If you have a 7-way with the 12V function, an alternative is to use the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # TK94FR. This is a wireless unit that will not require further hardwiring in your vehicle. It mounts to the trailer and gives you a remote for inside your vehicle. I've attached some videos to assist.
