Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver Installation on 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
Question:
Hi, I have a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and was wondering if I needed to jack it up to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2? My car is parked in a community garage and I was kind of hoping I could just slide under and do it myself. Also, Ive been told by mechanics that there could be electrical to deal with, is that true or are they just trying to get me to pay more for something simple? Thanks!

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13065 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. You will be able to install the hitch without jacking it up, but you will have limited space to move. This installation is easy using a 21 mm socket with just 4 bolts and a torque wrench, so you can absolutely install this yourself. You do not need to move any electrical wiring for this install. I've attached a video to assist.
To add trailer wiring, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55774. You can then use the no drill bracket # 18136 or # 18140 for this mount. It may be necessary to see a local Jeep dealer to activate the tow package wiring circuit if it isn't already active.
Then for your ball mount, I recommend the kit # 989900. This will give you the towing connection needed and make it easy to store when unused. I've attached a video to assist.
