How to Replace a Euro 7-Pin on a Trailer and Tow Vehicle with Standard 7-Way
Question:
Good evening - I have a multi-faceted question. I own a utility trailer manufactured in the UK that has the european 7-pin plug the male connector, do you make an adapter that will convert the euro 7-pin to a US 7-pin or 4-pin? Additionally, I own a Land Rover Defender wired for the euro-7-pin female end, I see you have many adapters that look like they would work for converting the wiring, but I am confused as to which one is the correct one. Please advise which one is the correct one. I appreciate the help!

For your Land Rover Defender, you can use the Trailer Connector Adapter for Land Rover part # 118710 which will plug into the euro 7-way on your Defender and give you a standard 4-flat trailer connector. Then for the trailer you can easily install the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Fix Replacement 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector part # HM48192 which will attach directly to the adapter that was just installed on the tow vehicle. This setup will be perfect for trailers that have the standard running light, right turn/stop, and left turn/stop features.
If your trailer has brakes then the above option will not work for you and you would need to remove both the euro 7-pin on the vehicle and trailer. In order to replace them I recommend using part # PK12706 for the trailer and part # PK12-707E for vehicle. If the vehicle's stop and turn signals are on different circuits then you will need to combine them prior to going into the 7-way with part # C56196.
I have attached our wiring help article which displays the pinouts of each trailer connector. It will also be necessary to have a circuit tester like part # ALL640595 readily available. Unfortunately, we do not have any adapters for a trailer side euro 7-pin or a vehicle side euro 7-pin to standard 7-way.
