Helpful Expert Reply:
For your 2012 Mercedes-Benz C300 only a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch is offered, part # C11030 from Curt. There are no 2-inch hitches are made for the car since the available hitch mounting points on the car's frame cannot support more than the 200-lb tongue weight rating of a Class I hitch. (Tongue weight is the downward force on the hitch from the weight of what is installed in it.)
The safest solution is to select a Class I bike rack (up to a 2-bike capacity) to use with the hitch. The linked page displays all 2-bike Class I-compatible racks such as the Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT # TH92BJ and their EasyFold electric bike carrier # TH903202 which handles e-bikes and other heavy bikes up to 65-lbs each. The linked video highlights this exceptional bike carrier.
The combined weight of your chosen bike rack and the loaded bikes should remain within the hitch's 200-lb tongue weight rating.
