Availability of Adapter For Connecting 6-Way Round on Trailer to 4-Way Flat on Tow Vehicle

Question:

My trailer has a 6 way round connection which plugs directly into my 6 way round trailer light connection on my 1995 Jeep Cherokee. A friend wants to use my trailer on his vehicle which has a 4 pin trailer light connection. Is there an adapter available to connect my 6 way round trailer light connection to the 4 pin trailer light connection on his vehicle? I cant find one. Suggestions? Thanks.

I would recommend to use the Mighty Cord 4-Way to 6-Way Adapter, part # A10-6034VP.

If you only want to use the basic lighting functions provided by the 4-Way (left/right turn, brake, and running lights) then all you will need to do is plug the 4-Way end of the # A10-6034VP adapter, into the vehicle 4-Way. The trailer 6-Way will then plug into the 6-Way receptacle on the adapter. You will also need to ground the white wire on the adapter to the vehicle frame at a clean and corrosion free metal surface. The remaining wires (blue for electric brakes or reverse lights, and black for 12 volt power) can be taped up and stowed out of the way.

If you do need to use the other 2 wires, the blue wire is connected to the blue wire supplying power to the brakes from the brake controller if your trailer has electric brakes, or if your trailer has hydraulic brakes then the blue wire would be attached to the backup light circuit so that the trailer brake lockout will engage when the vehicle is in reverse.

The black wire is the battery lead and is ran to the positive terminal of the battery, via a 40 amp circuit breaker ( # PK54540) for charging the battery of the trailer or 12 volt power for other accessories.

I am including a link to a FAQ page on trailer wiring.
