Prodigy P3 Brake Controller Installation in 2018 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Question:
My 2018 Highlander Hybrid came with the factory hitch and factory 4 way plug. The 12V battery is in the back rear driver side compartment. So what is best way to install at the Tehonsha P3 brake controller with the ETBC7 kit. What is easiest way to find and connect the brake switch cold side. Connecting the brake switch seem to me the most difficult step. Being a hybrid, is there any unique steps I should be aware. Should the 2 circuit breakers be mounted together or separate since battery is in the back. Thanks

Installation of the # ETBC7 kit and your Prodigy P3 brake controller # 90195 in your 2018 Highlander Hybrid will not really differ from the usual install. The controller will be at the driver's position, the included # 10-2-1 duplex wire will both deliver +12V operating power to the controller's black wire and deliver the braking output signal to the 7-way on the other wire, the white one. The controller can be grounded to a bare metal surface at or near the firewall.
The two circuit breakers in the kit can both be mounted near the battery. The 40-amp breaker is for the 7-way's +12V auxiliary power feed; the 30-amp breaker is for the controller's operating power feed. The two breakers can be physically mounted near each other at the battery area but they will not connect electrically.
Take care to not disconnect the brake light switch on your Hybrid unless the battery is disconnected or the ignition is in the off position or else you may set off a code in the computer system that limits the vehicle's motion.
