Recommended Trailer Brake Controller for 2017 Chevy Equinox

Question:

thanks for the info, I should have been more specific, I wish to install a wireless controller on the trailer, I have installed the 4 way to 7 way conversion, but the equinox does not have the 12 v i need at the 7 way to power the brakes, can I power the brakes using the 12 v battery on the trailer or do I need to wire 12 v to the 7 way connector.

We have everything you need to get you set up to use a brake controller with your 2017 Chevy Equinox so you can pull your Rockwood camper.

I assume you do not have the factory 7-way or tow package on your 2017 Chevy Equinox so you need to start by adding a 4-way, the T-One Harness # 118494. You will also need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7, which will give you a 7- and 4-way trailer connector, circuit breakers and the rest of the hardware needed to install a brake controller.

It sounds like you are looking to install the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 and yes, you are going to have to have 12 volts to the 7-way on your Chevy Equinox, and you can use the Install Kit # ETBC7L. I've added a link to a help article on routing a power wire from the harness to the vehicle battery which I highly recommend taking a look at.
