Can Blue Ox Patriot Supplemental Braking System be Powered from RV Trailer Wiring

Question:

Would you recommend using the 12v plug on the adapter to power the BLU37TR using a longer cord? I dont want to use any of the towed vehicle electrical systems.

The Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR would draw too much power for the 12 volt accessory circuit of the tow vehicle's trailer wiring. You'd have to run it to the battery of the towed vehicle. To keep the towed vehicle's battery topped off though we have the Roadmaster charge kit # RM-156-25 which will work great.

How do I know if my tow vehicle has a charging system ? And also with the blue ox braking system does the one wire for the pad control the only thing that my rv needs as far as wiring? Do I run it under motorhome up through the firewall? Sorry I’m new at this flat towing

To determine if your RV already has a charge line run, you can simply use a circuit tester at the 12V pin on the 7-Way (1 o'clock position) to see if there's power there with the motorhome's ignition on.
