Do All Hitch Extenders Reduce Capacity for a 2018 Ford F-150

Question:

I am looking for a 12inch hopefully CLASS IV trailer extension. Im not having luck finding one. Also Im very concerned as I see on alot of the products sold on the site saying that it will reduce the GVWR by 50 which if thats true might be an issue. Does any extension not reduce the GVWR or at least not reduce it by as much?

For a 14" hitch extender I recommend using the Curt Hitch Extender part # C45795. This extender will however reduce the weight capacity of your hitch by 50% or limit it to 350 lbs tongue weight (TW) and 3,500 lbs gross trailer weight (GW) whichever is the lower of the two. Unfortunately, the only hitch extender we have that will not reduce the trailer hitch's capacity is the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension but they do not make a trailer hitch that will allow you to use this extender on your 2018 Ford F-150 at this time (June 2018). Another option you have would be to use an extended length ball mount like theBrophy Ball Mount - 3" Rise, 4" Drop - 14-5/8" Long - Aluminum - 8,000 lbs # EA40.

If you can tell me what you need a hitch extender for, I will see if we have any other options for you.
