Recommended Trailer Towing Components for 2015 Ford Escape

Question:

I need an easy to install hitch Class II for our 2015 Ford Escape. I would like a complete quality, inexpensive kit that contains the hitch, 2inch ball, the extension, wire kit and whatever else I may be forgetting, Can you help? Part numbers needed so I can look at them before purchasing.

I'm happy to assist with an inexpensive kit with an easy installation. I recommend you start with the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75758. This is a strong Class III hitch that is simple to install and works with many accessories. Class III hitches have a 2 inch hitch opening and Class II or Class I hitches have a 1-1/4 inch opening that is not nearly as strong or adaptable for other uses. I've attached a video of this installation to assist.

Then for your wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118566. This will install to your factory wiring harness found behind the tail lights of your vehicle. Then you will run a power wire to your battery to give proper trailer wiring power to this harness. I've attached a video and an article on routing that power wire to assist. This connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, so I recommend using bracket # 18144 which will install on the mount already present on the trailer hitch.

Finally, for your ball mount, I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989900 which will give you the 2 inch ball you are seeking as well as two draw bar/ball mount options for the rise or drop you may need to tow your trailer level. This kit also comes with the storage bag and hitch pin and clip needed. I've attached an article on measuring your ball mount for best fit with your trailer and this kit has worked very well for compatibility with most trailer applications.
