Recommended Roof Rack to Transport Cargo Box and Two Bikes on 2013 Volvo XC60

Question:

Ideally, Id like a rack that could accommodate 2 regular size bikes not fork mounted, and a cargo carrier probably put one bike on each side of it. Ive got a sears xcargo carrier 36inch width that would be great to use if possible, but know I might need to get a narrower one. Id like suggestions re: options and pricing. THanks,

If your 2013 Volvo XC60 has the naked roof (no existing side rails or crossbars), then I recommend looking at the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System. This roof rack consists of # RRVA126B-2 for the two 49 inch Aero Crossbars, # RRRLKVA for the 2500 Series Legs, and # DK246 for the Custom DK Fit KIt. This will give you a really nice, aerodynamic roof rack that has a weight capacity of 165 pounds.

The 49 inch bars on this system represent the longest bars available that are confirmed to work well on your 2013 Volvo XC60. If you use your existing Sears X-Cargo Box, this will give you only 13 inches of available space to work with on the crossbars once the 36 inch wide box is mounted.

Even when using two narrow design wheel mount carriers like the excellent Yakima FrontLoader # Y02103, this won't be enough space as each carrier measures just about 7 inches at its widest point.

Your best option may be to replace your existing cargo carrier with a thinner alternative like the SportRack Horizon # SR7011. This cargo box has 11 cubic feet of storage but measures just 21 inches wide extenerally. This width plus the 14 total inches for the two Yakima FrontLoader Bike Carriers will take up a combined 35 inches of space on the crossbars. This should give you enough room for everything to fit on top of your Volvo XC60.

I have attached a few short video demonstrations on the products mentioned that you can also check out. All of the pricing information will be located on the product pages.
