Installing a Brake Controller on a 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited with Factory Tow Package
Question:
It is available , made by curt. It is necessary to reverse the blue and black wires. Just plug it in and go. Works perfect! You cannot tap into the cold wire on the brake light switch like most vehicles.

While I cannot confirm a brake controller wiring harness for the 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited there is still a way to install a brake controller. First you would need a 4-Way wiring harness.
We do have trailer wiring harnesses for the 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited. For models without the factory tow package Curt has # C56407 and Tekonsha has # 118786. There is a note on the Tekonsha harness though that states it does not currently work with Rubicon or Sahara models.
Adding a brake controller in the vehicle cab is an issue right now because of the lack of access to suitable brake switch wire like you said. If you have found a way to use an existing brake controller harness on a model with the factory tow package then that's great. I just can't confirm anything officially.
You will need to add a 7-Way after installing a 4-Way so you can use # 37185 along with wiring kit # 5506 and then install the Curt Echo # C51180 on your 7 way connection. On the 37185 you will plug in the 4-Way for the trailer lights, the blue and purple wires can be taped up and stowed out of the way. the white wire will be grounded to the Jeep frame. That leaves the black wire. Use the wiring from 5506 to connect to the black wire. Route the wire to the Jeep battery and connect it to the positive battery terminal via the 40 amp circuit breaker in kit 5506.
