Recommended 4.80-12 Size Trailer Tires for Sea Doo Trailer at Highway Speeds

Question:

I have a 2017 trailer towing my seadoo 155 wake with 2 ply 4.80-12 tires, I have typical tow times of 60 to 90 minutes with alot of it on highways at 70 to 80 mph. My question is what tire upgrade would be best for me?

I recommend keeping the 4.80-12 size and going with a radial tire that's rated for the speeds you're driving at. The Taskmaster, part # TT48012C, is just that. It's rated up to 81 mph and has ply rating of 6 so the weight of your trailer shouldn't be an issue at all. It's capacity is 990 pounds at 90 psi. Make sure your wheels and valve stems are rated for that much psi.

I'm not sure if you currently have radial or bias tires but radial is best for you. They're better for highway driving because they flex more giving the tire better ground contact. Ultimately this helps the tire wear better and run cooler which helps it last longer.
