Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited with 1 Bumper D-Ring Mounts

Question:

I want to flat tow my Jeep. Which brand/ type d ring mount bumper can be used with your adapters for your tow bar? Is it any bumper with 1” D ring mounts?

As long as the D-Ring bumper mount on your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited is 1" thick and has a mounting hole that is 7/8" or 1" in diameter, and as long as your bumper is rated for flat towing you are good to use Adapter # RM-035-1 for flat towing your JL Wrangler Unlimited.

For a compatible tow bar and safety cables rated for 6,000 lbs I recommend the Falcon All Terrain # RM-522 and Coiled Cables # RM-643. A complete flat towing setup also includes vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter.

The wiring kit that I recommend is the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This permanently installed on your Jeep but it looks clean and you simply plug in the coiled adapter cord to connect your lights to your motorhome.

When it comes to a braking system the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is one of the best out there. It also permanently installs on your Jeep and just requires you to connect the breakaway cable and flip a switch before heading down the road. Even though this kit stays in your Jeep it installs in such a way that you won't realize it is there when you are driving your Jeep around. You also need the Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751490 for this installation.

Most flat towing setups require a high-low adapter for the tow bar to remain level while towing. I have linked our selection of adapters for you to check out as well as an article that will help you determine which is the best one for your application.

Attached are some videos and helpful articles that you can check out. Also be sure to check your owner's manual for instructions on flat towing your JL Wrangler Unlimited.
