In order to determine which wire on the brake controller that the green wire on your factory brake controller harness goes to you will need to test it for function with a circuit tester. Unfortunately, I do have any information as to what the function is for the green wire on your factory brake controller harness. The above process can also be avoided entirely by using a completely plug and play adapter like the Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3040-P which works with Tekonsha brake controllers like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160. If you do not already have a brake controller then this is the option I recommend for you as it has continuous diagnostic checks and integrated safeguards.
In regards to the taillights not working this is going to be a separate issues entirely as the brake controller wiring is not going to have any effect on the trailer lights. I first recommend checking the fuse box for any blown fuses then the wiring on the trailer and or trailer connectors.
