Receiver Rise Adapter for Thule T2 Pro XT Bike Rack on Curt # 13390 Hitch
Question:
I have a Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 and I also have the T2 Pro XT 2 2-bike add-on. Can I safely use a receiver riser to increase the ground clearance without compromising the function of the rack? The hitch is a CURT 13390 Class 3 trailer hitch on a 2015 Subaru Legacy sedan. The receiver riser I am curious about is the CURT 45794 raised receiver adapter. Thank you for any help.

Helpful Expert Reply:
With your Curt # 13390 hitch, you can add an adapter like # D-192 (45792) but it will reduce the trailer hitch tongue weight capacity by 50%. This will not restrict your rack as the hitch is already rated for 600 lbs giving you a 300 lb capacity remaining.
The T2 Pro 2 bike rack # TH83JV and 2-bike add-on # TH9036XT, when used together, have a total weight capacity of 160 lbs and weigh 113 lbs, so you will still be under the hitch weight limit. This adapter is a great choice as it will raise your bike rack a little over 5 inches at the hitch. I recommend using a lock like # e98880 and an anti-rattle like # RM-061 or # BX88224 for best compatibility.
