Hitch Recommendation for 2003 Honda Element
Question:
I have a 2003 Honda element and Im wondering if it can support a 450 lb bike mounted on the hitch. I feel like Ive seen somewhere that the tongue weight is only 150 lb which leads me to believe its not even close. I have seen guys do it with dirtbikes that probably weigh over 300 lb though, so its got me wondering. Im looking into buying a dual sport bike and I would love to have the capability to hitch mount it.

None of the hitches we offer would have enough weight capacity for a tongue weight of 450 lbs. Highest we have is the etrailer part # e78KR which has tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs. Even still you'd be limited by the capacity of the vehicle which will be 150 lbs like you mentioned.
You'd have to look into a small trailer.
We've found that people will disregard capacities and warnings to do whatever it is that they want while putting other motorists at risk. Some get away with it without an issue but the risk is pretty severe and not worth it.
