If you have everything installed correctly and have connected the power wire to the positive battery terminal via the included fuse and fuse folder, and all other lights work, there could be a couple of issues. First, to find fuses and relays, you can use the owners manual for the vehicle where there is usually a map of fuses and relays. If you find that any are missing you will need to install them.
Check that the white ground wire is attached to a clean metal surface. A bad ground can cause a lot of trailer lighting problems. To determine if the harness is the problem, disconnect the trailer and use a circuit tester, # PTW2993, to test the wiring going into and coming out of the converter.
If the signals are wrong going in, then there is a wiring problem ahead of the converter on the vehicle. If the wiring is correct going in but wrong coming out then the problem is in the converter and it will need to be replaced. If the signals are correct going in and coming out, then there is an issue after the vehicle side wiring and you will need to look at the trailer.
For tail lights, this harness is rated for a max of 5.6 amps. If the trailer has a lot of marker lights then it is possible they exceed this 5.6 amp limit and that would cause the lights to not work. You can also check the main ground behind the trailer connector side plug and make sure it is connected to a clean metal surface.
You can also check for corrosion and dirt in the vehicle side and trailer side connectors. Also make sure that the grounds for the trailer lights are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces.
