Brake Controller Recommendation for 2017 Honda CR-V

Question:

Im pondering a hitch for my 2017 Honda CR-V EX-L. Ill use it to tow a tear and am also wondering about tongue and overall weight. The Honda is rated at #1500 towing but I live in the mountains of N Utah and am wondering if that is a realistic weight for a trailer or if I need to keep it below 1500. Some of the trailers dont list tongue weight and Im wondering how much that can compensated for by careful loading of the trailer, any advice is appreciated

The towing capacity of your 2017 Honda CR-V would include the elevation changes you would have in your area. If the capacity was different for mountainous areas Honda would have just lowered the capacity accross the board to be safe there.

I'd recommend a brake controller to help your trailer and tow vehicle stop in the steep hills you'll encounter. You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118741.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
