Fifth Wheel Brackets Needed to Move Base Rails From 2015 Ford F-250 to 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500

Question:

I currently have a Curt E16 fifth wheel hitch and I had it in a 2013 Ford F250 and now I want to install it in a 2014 Chevy 1500 Silverado ... I had the quick install bracket for the ford will that work on the Chevy or do I need new brackets and which one? I’m also gonna install air bags instead of the bump stops....I really would appreciate some advice....Thanks

It depends on the what you you were using as there are no brackets from Curt that can be used on a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5-1/2 foot bed. If you had the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP30035 you would be able to use the base rails, but would still need a new Installation Kit # RP30439. Otherwise, you would need a brand new rail and installation kit such as the # RP30035.

In regards to the air bags for your '14 Silverado 1500 I recommend the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 # AL57204, which fits your truck and will work with fifth wheel hitch brackets but will require drilling. These air bags have a load-leveling capacity of up to 5,000 lbs and air pressure that is adjustable from 5 psi to 100 psi. They are manual inflation valves and air lines, though you can activate the air bags with the hand-held remote using the Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor System # AL25980.
