Replacement Winch for 3,500 lb Boat Trailer
Question:
Hello, I have a 1976 Calkins 3500# single axle trailer boat trailer that is missing the winch handle. Just wondering if I can get just a handle that will work or do I need to buy a whole new winch. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Winch handles are designed to fit specific manufacturer models of winch, so you can potentially get a replacement handle, but for the correct one you will need to know the model number and manufacturer; if you do know that information, you can let me know and I would be happy to try and find the correct replacement for you.
Apart from that you would need a new winch. I recommend checking out Boat Trailer Winch # 315-W2500D, which has a 2-speed system, self-locking crank and comes with a 20' black strap. It has a 2,500 lb capacity and please keep in mind the boat size to winch capacity is generally 2-to-1, so a 2,000 lb boat would need a 1,000 lb winch.
