Solution for Connecting Factory 4-Flat on Nissan Pathfinder to 5-Way Connector on Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder with a factory 4 flat. My boat trailer has surge brakes and needs a 5 flat to energize a hydraulic by-pass coil in the trailer coupler when the reverse lights come on, so I can back the trailer up. I found the 5th wire in the original harness connector that goes hot when the reverse lights come on. I know you make a 4 flat with OEM connector. My question is - do you make a 5 flat with an OEM harness connector? I have spent hours trying to find one and am almost ready to buy the connector, female pins and the 5 flat harness and make one. Your help is appreciated. Thanks much

I have a perfect solution for you, however there is not a 5-Way harness available that will connect directly to the OEM port on your Nissan Pathfinder.

Since your vehicle is already equipped with the factory 4-Way harness, I recommend simply using the Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Adapter # 20036. This will plug right into the 4-Way flat connector you already have and provide a 5-Way on the other end to connect with your trailer. The additional blue wire on the adapter will just need to be spliced into the reverse light circuit wire on your Pathfinder to activate the reverse lockout on the trailer.
