Solution for Installing Hitch with Broken Weld Nut
Question:
Order 106565423 Drawtite 24710 2004 Subaru WRX Wagon Hi, I just installed the hitch today but I stripped the rear-most bolt on the passenger side. It just spins in the hole and I cant remove it. The other 5 bolts I was able to install correctly and torque to spec. How critical is it that I get this 6th bolt fixed? I would be using this for a 2-bike rack, most of the time with 1 bike only. I would assume a shop would have to cut the bolthead and do some welding since I probably broke the weldnut. Or is there another solution? Thanks.

If you can access an open end of the frame where the weld nut broke off you could fishwire a new carriage bolt in place of the weldnut. Otherwise you may have to weld the hitch on or see if a local garage like you mentioned could come up with a way to re-weld in a weld nut.
For a bolt leader you could then use the # C58400.
