Modifications Needed to Install Curt Class I Hitch C11362 on 2015 Lexus ES 300h
Question:
I am looking at a curt class 1 trailer hitch for my 2015 Lexus ES300H. I have two questions: 1. How far below the existing bumper does the hitch protrude when installed? Does that leave enough clearance to the road? 2. does the bumper need to be cut? I look forward to your reply - thank you in advance

The Curt Class I trailer hitch # C11362 that fits your 2015 Lexus ES 300h will require some modest modifications to your vehicle during installation. You can refer to the written instructions I linked for you to see the step-by-step process as well as the tools needed. These mods include removal and trimming of the heat shield so it can be re-installed and some trimming of the underbody panel.
In the instructions a photo showing the finished installation is included. Naturally there is some reduction in ground clearance but the hitch will be installed as close as possible to the bottom of the bumper cover. The bottom of the hitch tube will be approximately 2-1/4-inches below the bumper cover.
If you will use the hitch for a bike rack please note you are limited to use of a 2-bike Class I carrier and note also that Curt recommends using support strap # 18050 to help handle some of the weight of an installed bike rack.
