Can Electric Trailer Brakes be Used on Boat Trailer?

Im considering replacing the surge brakes on my boat trailer with electric brakes. Are electric brakes suitable for use on a boat trailer wirer they will be submerged in water? the existing surge unit is rated at 6000 lb.

You can use electric trailer brakes such as # AKEBRK-7-SA on a boat trailer so long as your wiring connections are properly sealed and you unplug your trailer wiring harness before backing into the water.
To get the correct electric brakes you need to know your axle's weight capacity and your brake mounting flange's bolt pattern (or add one if you do not have one on your trailer). Additionally, you need a breakaway kit, a brake controller and the proper wiring.
