Can the StowMaster be Used with an EZ5 Base Plate Kit on a 2018 Ford Fiesta

Question:

Is there any update on an adapter that will mount the StowMaster to the EZ5 baseplate?

The reason that the StowMaster # RM-501 is not compatible with EZ5 base plate kits like part # RM-524438-5 for your 2018 Ford Fiesta is because the quick-disconnect is permanently attached to the tow bar.

I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster who said that the only tow bars that are compatible with the EZ5 kits are the ones that mount inside the hitch receiver like the Falcon 2 # RM-520.

If you already have the StowMaster and you need a base plate kit for your Fiesta then you can use the EZ4 Kit # RM-524438-4 (without EcoBoost) or Kit # RM-524441-4 (with EcoBoost) which has removable arms that are compatible with the quick-disconnect kit on the StowMaster. Either way you will still need to use safety cables like part # RM-643.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter.

The wiring kit that I recommend is the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. Not only will this activate the lights on your Fiesta but you can also add the Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to keep your battery life from depleting. Please note that your owner's manual calls for the battery to be disconnected. Using the Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766 will help to speed the process up and help keep your battery terminals from getting damaged.

I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 for a braking system. The installation is a little bit more involved than other options but once installed you will hardly know that it is there. To activate it you simply need to connect the breakaway cable and turn the unit on! Please note that if you have a manual transmission the Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400 is also required to keep your brake signal from overriding your turn signal.

Most flat towing setups require a high-low adapter for the tow bar to remain level while towing. I have linked our selection of adapters as well as a helpful article that will help you determine which is the best one for your application for you to check out.
