Clevis Hitch and Pin to Tow an Agricultural Trailer

Question:

Well, it has an awfully low weight rating for what I need. 5000lb trailer, 500lb tongue won't even get you 2 tons of lime in a standard buggy. I would need something at least double that. Triple for my towing capacity.

It sounds like you're looking for a clevis hitch, like the MaxxTow # MT70034. Then use a 1 inch diameter clevis pin, part # CP20, to hook up your trailer.

is there anyway to lock a clevis hitch from turning. I have an ag-trailer that the front wheels turn and the hitch turns and this causes the trailer to turn when braking going down hill. this has almost caused my tractor to jackknife.

I don't believe there's a good way to lock out a clevis hitch so it doesn't turn behind you during travel. It basically mimics how a standard coupler would rotate around a hitch ball.

We do have higher capacity clevis hitches. The Gen-Y, part # 325-GH-039 has a towing capacity of 16,000 pounds and tongue weight of 2,000 pounds. It fits a 1-1/4 inch clevis pin which we don't carry though.
