Recommended Trailer Hitch Extension for 2004 Ford F-350 with Truck Bed Camper Towing a Trailer
Question:
I have a camper on my truck 2004 F350 purchased torklift tie downs and now I need an extension of 30 inches and having no luck in finding an extension of that length. Does torklift have that available or tell me where I can obtain one?

Hitch extensions over 18 inches aren't very common because of the stress and torque they put on the trailer hitch and vehicle frame. For a 30 inch extension, the first place we will want to start is with your truck's trailer hitch. In order to find an extension this long, you must have a Class V trailer hitch with a 2-1/2 inch hitch opening.
If you don't already have a Class V hitch, then I recommend the Curt Class V Trailer Hitch, # C15810, because with this hitch you can use the Curt Hitch Extension # C45048. The factory hitch will have to be removed to install this hitch. The extension will also fit a factory 2-1/2 inch hitch. You will also want to consider longer safety chains like part # C19749 due to the added length of the hitch extension.
The main limiting factor to this type of extension is the weight capacity. It has two length settings, 24 inches and 34 inches. At 34 inches, it has a towing capacity of 4,500 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 450 lbs, but if you are using a weight distribution system, it can handle 6,000 lbs towing and 600 lbs tongue weight.
If you are using the TorkLift camper tie-downs for a factory hitch and upgrade to the Curt Class V hitch, then you will also need to change the rear TorkLift camper tie-down brackets with part # TLR3500.
Your other option which will offer the best stability and weight capacity is to install the TorkLift SuperHitch # TLF1002, on your truck and use the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension # TLE1532 (32 inch extension) or # TLE1528 (28 inch extension). You will also have to change the rear camper tie-down bracket with part # TLR3505. This package comes with a higher price tag, but you won't beat the towing/driving stability and capacity that this setup offers.
I've attached product links and installation instructions for you to check out.
